First, we should look at the two words separately.
Network - or networking: A network is a connected web of people. They can have almost any association. Your church congregation is a network. The people that you work with are a network. Your family is a network.
If you picture a web, like a giant spider web, with you at the center, that's what your network looks like. In fact, you are at the center of a bunch of networks or webs, all stacked together. These networks all overlap in different places, too. For example, you might know some people work and at church.
Marketing - "the selling of products or services." Marketing is how all companies selling everything. Advertising, like television commercials are a part of a marketing plan. Sales calls, phone calls, mail advertising, email marketing, all kinds of advertisements are part of the marketing process.
So, What is Online Marketing?
Network marketing is using your various networks to market and sell your products. In the 21st Century, we also have the online network to market to.
To begin internet marketing you need to find a product that you can believe in to sell. There are literally thousands of network marketing opportunities in the world, from Tupperware to Amway to Herbalife. All of that seems so 20th Century. Out dated, played out, like something your mom would have done. (Most moms did at least one of these or several over the years.)
